About The Society

The Kitimat Community Humane Society (KCHS) is a non-profit organization located in the town of Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada. It was founded in 2004 by a group of concerned citizens who wanted to improve the welfare of animals in the region.

In the early days, KCHS focused on rescuing and rehoming stray cats and dogs, as well as providing education to the community on responsible pet ownership. In the future, the society hopes to become a fully registered charity with the ability to offer low cost spay and neuter clinics for those in need.

In recent years, KCHS has continued to adapt to the changing needs of the community, including expanding their outreach to Indigenous communities in the area. They have also partnered with other animal welfare organizations to advocate for stronger animal protection laws and to improve the treatment of animals in the region.

Today, the Kitimat Community Humane Society remains an integral part of the Kitimat community, providing vital services and support to animals and their human companions. Their dedication and commitment to animal welfare serves as an inspiration to other organizations and individuals working towards similar goals
